Starting in childhood, and growing in intensity through her teenage years, Jess lived through a traumatic upbringing, surrounded by drugs, alcohol and damaging verbal and physical abuse. She was constantly uprooted, attending 12 different schools overall, living on her own as a high school senior and starting her first job at 14. Jess had no choice but to grow up, and fast. She participated in sports and used fitness to cope, gaining strength (both mentally and physically) and self-confidence. In her teen years, though short lived, she found troubles of her own. Hanging out with gang members, skipping school, standing in front of pointed guns, getting in fights, witnessing the highs and lows of various drugs, with some experience of her own, and putting herself in risky and dangerous situations where she knew nobody. Jess found her way back, and graduated high school with honors, receiving a Community College scholarship and the Metro Mayors and Commissioners Youth Award for changing her life in a positive way. The fire inside her burns brighter than the fire around her. A pivotal moment in 2013, Jess took a leap of faith, leaving her 12-year career as Lender Operations Manager with Land Title Guarantee Company. After fulfilling fiduciary responsibilities, she also stepped down from the Credit Union of Denver, where she’d been an active member of both the Supervisory Committee and Board of Directors for 10 years. She started from scratch and redesigned her life. She became an ISSA certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach, helping clients get out of their own way and making their perceived impossible, possible. ‘Addressing and healing our internal struggles or past trauma will provide the external results we desire; it is a matter of body AND mind.’ She sees Jess found her niche. She uses fitness as a platform to motivate others to be their best, by being her best. Since then, Jess has directly, or indirectly, inspired, motivated or coached 100’s of people in accomplishing something they’ve never done or never believed they could, in addition to the positive outcomes in health and wellness, recovery, professional and personal goals and life skills. She has a heart for giving back, volunteering her time within the sober community and advocating for those less fortunate. She is on the Board of Directors for Range of Motion Project, providing mobility to amputees without access or resources, is a CCAR Recovery Coach, Spartan SGX Coach, Tough Mudder Ambassador and Coach, is a WBFF Pro Fitness competitor and a Elite Spartan Competitor, to name a few!
