Addiction and alcoholism are rarely solitary experiences but secondary experiences instead. Underneath the substance abuse are often years of suppressed emotional pain which need to be released in healthy ways. Boxing provides that outlet for pent up frustration and anger and is an opportunity to create, focus, and release pain.

Boxing builds self-esteem, increases mental focus, relieves tension, stress and anxiety, and demands discipline. Our boxing program provides structure and a safe training environment for beginners all the way to professional levels.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Classes are FREE to one and all! The only requirement is 24 hours of clean/sober time. We request that first time participants arrive 10min prior to the start of class to get registered into our system or register online.

Aaron Bensinger

Aaron grew up in Southeast Ohio where his stepfather was a drug dealer and his mother was a well-known drug addict. At the age of 17, he ran away and was on the streets until he got into trouble, and with no high school diploma and a trash bag full of belongings, he enlisted in the US Army in 2000.

In his first few months in the Army, he was noticed for his boxing abilities. He was a previous 4-time regional golden gloves champion from 1996 to 1999. Boxing helped him to build resiliency, a refusal to give up, and the drive to get up after being knocked down, all of which led him to pursue an education in 2012 after leaving the Army.

Aaron currently holds a Master’s Degree in Education and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology.

He retired from amateur boxing in 2006 with 96 matches completed and a record of 79-17 with 33 knockouts, 3 national championship bronze medals, and 6 regional golden gloves titles. He was the 5th highest ranked boxer in the US from 2002 to 2004, and in 2004 he finished as a Western Olympic Trials bronze medalist.
