Who we are...
Hazelbrook Community Center is THE recovery resource hub in the state of Colorado. This one of a kind non-profit is based in Aurora, but offers a variety of programs and services through the state of Colorado. Being founded and run by a group of individuals who are heavily immersed in the Colorado recovery movement, our programs and resources address the intricacies and challenges individuals experience on the road to sobriety.
We currently service individuals through our Transitional Safety Zone [TSZ] program, life skill classes, performing and visual arts classes, fitness offerings, and peer coaching services. We also host great sober events throughout the year!
Our community center is a multipurpose space used for online access and printing capabilities for individuals seeking employment, a location for AA and other recovery meetings, and the home of our Peer Recovery Coach Certification. We also offer a free sober gym and classes offered throughout the week and weekends.
We are committed to helping people who are looking for a new way of life. Come and have fun, receive guidance, workout, do art and express themselves in a positive way in order to unite, make new friends, build new habits, improve their life, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential.

RE-ENTRY SERVICES
WAGEES Case Management Program
“In 2014, the legislature passed HB14-1355. Among its other reforms, the law created a reentry community grant program within the Colorado Department of Corrections, the Work and Gain Education & Employment Skills (WAGEES) program, to provide funding to community-based organizations that support people returning from incarceration. This community grant program facilitates and supports a strong partnership between the Colorado Department of Corrections and the community. Organizations funded by WAGEES were selected through a competitive process and meet the requirements, expectations, and performance measures established for the program.”
Community Connections Program (CCP)
Community Connection Program is a case management program offered inside Denver Women’s Correctional Facility, Fremont Correctional Facility, and Sterling Correctional Facility to participants whose release date is 180 days or sooner. The program allows participants to create a pre-release action plan that not only instills confidence but creates a path to success once released. The case manager works alongside the participant by providing resources, support, and implementation.
Case Management
Hazelbrook Community case management is a wrap-around service that meets the client where they are and offers a wide array of resources and support, based on their individual needs. In addition, case managers perform outreach in the community to individuals and organizations that may benefit from our program and services.
RECOVERY SUPPORT
Peer Recovery Specialists.
A Peer Recovery Specialist is almost always an individual in recovery themselves, with lived experience and the ability to relate to others in recovery from a substance use disorder. They walk alongside the individual supporting and guiding them in their recovery and encouraging them to explore all facets of a recovery program (pro-social activities, spiritual connection or groups, NA, AA or other meetings, therapy, or any other option that may benefit the individual). The Peer Recovery Specialist serves as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to recovering individuals to help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery and Addiction Counseling.
HOUSING
Transitional Safety Zone (TSZ) Program
For information please call 720.730.6053 or email tszintake@hazelbrookcommunity.
Sobriety is a requirement of entry to sober living and treatment, however, it can be challenging to maintain sobriety on the streets or in an unsafe or unstable environment. Oftentimes, detox facilities limit the time an individual can stay, releasing them before they are fully detoxed or clean. The TSZ offers a safe space for individuals to detox in a loving and well-equipped house with 24/7 management until they are fully detoxed and ready to move on to the next stage of their recovery.
