Mental Health Support Specialist (Aurora, CO)
Provide comprehensive mental health services, including structured therapeutic fitness programming, to individuals recovering from addiction, recently released from incarceration and high-risk youth populations. Duties include:
- Develop and implement structured physical fitness and movement-based programming designed to support emotional regulation, impulse control, and trauma recovery.
- Facilitate individual and
group therapy sessions for recovery and dealing with trauma - Identifying behaviors that
interfere with treatment and recovery. - Assist primary caregivers to
manage addiction-related behavior. - Write reports to court,
school, or other community agencies as necessary. - Participate in meetings to devise better programs and
share progress of current programs. - Managing all aspects of a case from date of entry to date of discharge.
- Teach clients coping
mechanisms and how to deescalate. - Follow up with psychiatrists
and/or attending physicians in cases involving hospital admissions and collaborate with them for treatments.
Requirements: Bachelor Degree in Psychology and one year of experience in:
- Mental health services for the recently incarcerated and those battling substance abuse
- Trauma-informed support and case management for youth with histories of violence, abuse, and systemic involvement
- Group Facilitation and Psychoeducational Programming
- Recovery-oriented care principles including crisis awareness and de-escalation techniques
- Physical Fitness or Martial Arts Instruction
